What is SS410 stainless steel?
SS410 is a martensitic stainless steel with about 12% chromium. Unlike 304, it can be hardened by heat treatment in the same way as carbon steel, giving high strength and wear resistance while still resisting mild corrosion. It is magnetic.
410S is the low-carbon version (0.08% max). It does not harden much, but it welds and forms more easily, so it is used where shaping matters more than hardness. Tell us which version and condition your drawing calls for, and we'll quote to that exact grade.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between SS410 and SS410S?
410S has lower carbon (0.08% max against 0.08–0.15%). It hardens much less, but it is easier to weld and form. Choose 410 for hardness and strength, and 410S for welded or formed parts.
SS410 or SS304: which should I use?
304 has better corrosion resistance and is non-magnetic, but it cannot be hardened by heat treatment. 410 can be hardened for strength and wear resistance, and it costs less, which suits shafts, valve parts and fasteners in mild conditions.
Is SS410 magnetic?
Yes. SS410 is a martensitic stainless steel, so it is magnetic in all conditions.
Can SS410 be hardened?
